Hey there! I am still going over my other new post, so to keep my promise I’m just going to talk a little about this amazing new artist I found out about recently - Ben Howard.
I first heard this song on the radio and have been obsessed with it ever since. In fact, I think that Ben Howard just might be one of my favourite artists at this current time.
So I urge you all to give him a chance, and take a listen to this as well as his other songs. It’s worth it, there’s a reason that the best musicians always seem to stem from over there across the sea. (If you need more proof, just look up a few other artists like Laura Marling, Johnny Flynn, Noah and the Whale, Franz Ferdinand and of course Muse. You won’t regret it!)
Until next time,

Ps. I know, I’m horrible. New post Sunday! Right now, I must go to sleep.

Edit: Since the video was made private, click here for a playlist with most of the songs from the concert. Enjoy!
Jack White is one of the most talented current musicians that I’ve listened to in a while, and it’s not hard to believe why when faced with proof like the video above.
On Friday the 27th of April Jack performed a show in New York that was simultaneously streamed on YouTube for those who were unable to make it. Unfortunately I was unable to make it to either the live show or the YouTube broadcast.
However, as luck would have it they ended up posting the entire show on Jack White’s VEVO channel, so those in my situation would be able to experience it as well.
So, I urge you all to take the time, that hour and 50 some minutes, to take in the awesomeness that is Jack White. Trust me, it’s worth it!

I am a horrible person.
When I mad that pledge a while back to update this tumblr at least twice a week, etc. I thought it would be easy. I mean, two posts a week? How hard can that be?
Answer: VERY.
You see, there is only so much one can think of to talk about before they start sitting in front of the computer thinking, WHAT ON EARTH WOULD POSSESS ME TO SAY I WOULD DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS? THERE’S NOT ENOUGH INTERESTING STUFF TO TALK ABOUT, NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT I AM PHYSICALLY INCAPABLE OF MANAGING MY TIME THAT WELL.
It feels kind of good to admit that. First steps, I guess.
So, because of the fact that I am currently unable to make the time to update as much as I originally said I am going to make a couple small adjustments.
Now, I will be updating this tumblr at least once a week and posting at least two reviews on YWS instead of the previously promised two and four. (Respectively)
Hopefully this will not be a permanent change. Maybe if I begin to manage my time better and think of more things to say I will return to my original promise.
We’ll just keep our fingers crossed, and if worse does come to worse I probably will still be able to up the amount after school ends. Less school means more hours in the day to think up awesome things to blog about!
I’m off for now though. Goodbye internet, and I’ll make sure to post again sometime next week. Keep checking back!

One of my biggest pet-peeves - especially as an aspiring editor/publisher - is misspelled words. It seems like nobody knows or even tries to know how to spell anymore, and that makes me sad. I mean, it’s not that hard, people!
I guess I’m only speaking from my experience, but this guide makes it pretty easy to understand the differences between all the most commonly misspelled words. (And I know that others have also tried time and time again to explain it to people.) Is there still a reason to make these mistakes with this knowledge, or does the blame lie solely on human laziness?
Any thoughts?

I’m back! And finally I am going to start what I promised - updating this tumblr. (Late, I know, but better late than never I always say!)
Now I know I should have posted earlier, but it’s been a bit hectic since I got back late Saturday March 31st. And even though a part of me missed it here at home, I miss the wonderful places we visited out there in Europe.
So, for those interested, I’d just like to share a few highlights below.
Berlin: Not the most historical city, but still quite interesting. Though one would think that Germans would shy away of their history with the two World Wars, everyone is still very aware of what went on. There aren’t that many original buildings (as our tour guide says, if there aren’t bullet holes, it’s not original) but everyone still knows about the tragedies that took place around them.
What stood out from our entire time in Berlin though would be the small trip to Sachenhausen - a former concentration camp. It’s hard to believe that people are actually capable of being so cruel and unimaginably stupid.
Amsterdam: Within the first five minutes our group, comprising mostly of students from a Christian school - were all walking through the middle of the infamous Red Light District.
Also, the McKrokets were very good!
Ieper (Ypres), Belgium: For sure the most beautiful place we visited. We were just there for an afternoon, but I definitely could have spent much more time there. We started off being pulled into a chocolate shop, let loose on the small town to shop on our own before exploring the Ramparts a bit and then experiencing the daily Last Post ceremony under the Menin Gate. It truly is a place I believe everyone should visit at least once in their lives.
Caen, France: Not the best hotel we stayed in, but we got to go on a walk that night to visit and explore the remains of William the Conquerer’s Castle which was built around the year 1060. I can’t believe something that old is still (mostly) standing.
Vimy: The Vimy Memorial was the biggest and most in depth Canadian memorial we visited on this trip. At the memorial, we ended up each getting our own pilgrimage medal before being led on a tour of a couple of the tunnels and trenches that were preserved. Also, we were able to see (but not walk through - they didn’t want us to get blown up) some of the battlefields around Vimy that were also preserved. It’s amazing and humbling seeing all the craters that were created during the war from previously flat ground.
Paris: And of course, Paris was interesting as well. It wasn’t the most beautiful or clean place we went to, but I can’t say I didn’t see the appeal. I can’t believe I got to see the Eiffel tower in real life and ride a boat down the Seine river.
We were only in Paris for one day and an evening, so we didn’t get to see everything there is to see. In fact, we only had one hour to experience the famous Paris shopping. Not enough time in my opinion.
But my favourite part of the visit to Paris would have to be the small excursion to Versailles. It was a bit extra to take part in this, and some of our group chose to go shopping instead, but I think it was worth it to see how the lavishly the monarchs lived during the time before the French Revolution. After seeing the Palace of Versailles, it’s not hard to imagine why the people rose up against King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.
All in all, it was a great trip and an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. Hopefully, I will get another chance to travel out there again in the near future. Ten days were not enough to fully experience everything there was to experience.
That’s about all I have to say in this long overdue post though. I really am sorry about how late it is, and I hope to be able to keep my promise of posting at least twice a week.
And, I also hope that people actually take an interest in what I have to say on here! If you ever have any ideas of what I should talk about in a blog post, please feel free to post in the comments or send me a question! I might need it. :D
But anyways, I’ll just sign off by saying good night, and until next time!

I Have a Problem
One thing many people (myself among them) do pretty much all the time is procrastinate. In fact, I was procrastinating just now when I stumbled across the above video on YouTube by charlieissocoollike.
For a while now I’ve been thinking of creating a challenge for myself to help overcome this problem, but until today I haven’t been able to bring myself to actually post it on here.
I need to change this all. And I think I’ve found one thing that I can do to start creating a better habit.
I have not written anything in far too long. I love writing, but somehow I have just stopped. (Probably because of my procrastination.)
Therefore, my challenge for myself is to post at least two written “blogs” on this tumblr a week from April 1st until the end of June. It could be a review, a response to something in my life or just some sort of writing project I have been working on, I just have to make sure that I do so at least twice a week.
And there’s a second part too! During this time as well as posting on here I plan to write at least 4 reviews a week on my Young Writers Society account.
This is of course just a stepping stone. What I’m hoping will result from this challenge is a better ability to stop procrastinating in all areas of my life.
So, what does everyone else think? Is this a good idea? Do you have any ideas of stuff I could respond to or write about once I start this? If so, please do let me know. Unfortunately this is one thing I’m going to need some help and encouragement so I’ll be able to keep it up. (At least until it starts becoming habit.)
That’s my challenge for myself. Can’t wait to get started!
